A credit in Maths is part of UNILAG GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS to show basic numeracy.

F9Fail

Check every required subject on your result with this table before you apply.

One D7 or E8 in a required subject disqualifies you for this particular course in UNILAG.

All your required credits must come from a single sitting of WAEC, NECO or other accepted exam.

This means you can COMBINE TWO O’LEVEL RESULTS for admission to study English Language in UNILAG.

If you wrote your O’Level exam twice, apply with the sitting that has all the required credits.

Otherwise, plan for a resit or change of institution.

Since English and Literature are fixed, your remaining two subjects can help or harm your JAMB score.

Pick the ones you scored the highest O’level grade in or that you have enough study materials for?

Don’t just choose a subject because your friends did. Choose what you can score highest in.

Frequently asked questions

Nigerian admission questions and answers
1. Is a Nigerian language compulsory for English Language in UNILAG?

No. A Nigerian language is only one of the options for your remaining JAMB subjects.

You can choose CRS/IRS, French, History or Government instead.

2. Can a science student apply for English Language in UNILAG?

Yes, but only if you meet the same requirements as everyone else.

That means five credits in one sitting, including English, Maths and Literature as well as a JAMB combination that includes Literature.

Many science students do not write Literature-in-English at O’level, so check your result first.

3. What if I did not write Literature-in-English in WAEC or NECO?

Then you do not meet the O’level requirement yet.

You’ll need to write Literature-in-English together with your other required subjects in a new sitting.

4. Can I use NECO and WAEC results together for English Language in UNILAG?

No. UNILAG one-sitting rule means you must not mix results from different exams or cycles to reach five credits.

5. Is English Language a competitive course in UNILAG?

The level of competition changes from session to session but cut-off mark is the best guide.

The higher the cut-off mark for a course, the more competitive that course is.

Conclusion

Not meeting these UNILAG requirements for English Language means no admission.

Consider rewriting O’level if you’re missing a required credit.

For a wrong JAMB combination, switch to a similar course with the subjects you already have or do a CHANGE OF INSTITUTION.

GOOD LUCK.
