Content of this post
1. Register early
When you register early for TRCN exam, your preparation also starts early with enough time to reduce exam tension.
“Early” here means at least a month before the exam date.
The earlier you register and start studying, the more time you have to revise those topics in TRCN EXAM SYLLABUS.
And the more your revision of those topics, the more your confidence which reduces the exam tension and improves your overall success rate in the exam.
2. Study with TRCN syllabus
TRCN now uses just one syllabus for all (4) categories of teachers.
And there are only (5) topics in this syllabus which are Pedagogy, Literacy, Numeracy, ICT and Safeguarding.
Study according to these topics because they are where all your TRCN exam questions will be asked from.
3. Focus on the major topic(s)
Remember there are five topics in the TRCN syllabus, right?
But the highest percentage of your TRCN questions will be asked from just three topics.
- Pedagogy (48%)
- Literacy (30%)
- Numeracy (30%)
- ICT (7%)
- Safeguarding (5%)
So, while you study according to the TRCN syllabus, focus more on the top (3) topics.
Give each of them extra study time because your TRCN exam questions will be more from these topics than the others.
4. Study TRCN past questions
There is a misconception about past questions that must be addressed.
Some candidates “cram” past questions hoping to see the exact same questions (word-for-word) in their own exam.
Of course.
TRCN past questions are repeated but with different words and from different areas of the same topic.
For example.
A question under Pedagogy may ask:
“Who is the father of Pragmatism?”
Similar question may be asked like this:
“The Pragmatic school of thought originated from which country?”
Right there is a repeated past questions!
They are from the same area (Learning Theories) in the same topic (Pedagogy).
Only the structure was changed.
Study past questions for the deeper insight because knowing that John Dewey (an American philosopher) is the ‘father of pragmatism’ tells you that pragmatic school of thought originated from USA.
5. Practice CBT
TRCN exam is CBT — ‘Computer Based Test’ meaning that all your TRCN questions will be asked and answered using a computer.
No theory! No papers!!
The questions are programmed into the computers at your TRCN EXAM CENTRE.
All you have to do is click on the correct answer to each question and submit when you are done.
Can you do that?
If yes, move to the next tip.
Otherwise.

6. Leave no question unanswered
During your exam, there will be questions you never expected that will throw you off-balance but do not panic.
Just skip them and move to the next.
After answering all the questions you know, go back to those you skipped and you may now remember their answers.
But if you still don’t know them, just pick any random answer.
You have ¼ percent chance of getting that question randomly answered but zero chance if you leave the question unanswered.
Which chance is better?
7. Submit only when you’re done
Ensure you click on the ‘SUBMIT‘ or ‘FINISH EXAM‘ button at the end of your TRCN exam before leaving the hall.
But make sure you’ve answered ALL (60) questions before clicking on that button because once you submit, you cannot go back to the questions.
Conclusion
You may be tempted to ask someone beside you for an answer to a question you don’t know.
But just remember that that person’s question (No.1) can be your question (No.29) and their option (A), your (C).
To be safe, work alone.
Sincerely, you can pass on your own with adequate preparation.
GOOD LUCK.
